First Families of New York

The Society of the First Families of New York (SFFNY) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1916. It identifies, honors and preserves the memory of ancestors who were residents of colonial New York before November 25, 1783.

Through its membership program, SFFNY works to bring together living descendants of the First Families of New York and promote their common historical and genealogical interests. Members receive exclusive access to SFFNY’s publications and resources, as well as numerous discounts to events and activities.

In addition, SFFNY is committed to educating the public about the history of the First Families of New York by hosting seminars and lectures, providing access to archival records, offering professional research assistance, and publishing various print materials. It also has a wide array of online resources available for members and non-members alike.

SFFNY strives to keep alive the heritage of those who were among the first settlers in colonial New York by helping current generations connect with their past.
